Outdoor Mosaics in my Garden

One week later, and i have finally recovered from the mosaic marathon in the garden.

DAY 1: Starting with celebrating a friend’s 50th, i gave Elaine a voucher for a mosaic day with other friends who had the basics of mosaic, with a leisurely lunch and lots of chat

DAY 2 and 3: Outdoor mosaic weekend – 11 people making stepping stones, slates, bird baths etc.  We finished at 8pm on the Saturday night, as the light was fading, and lot of wine drunk…  so they could start new projects fresh the next day.

DAY 4 – 8  A 5-day class entitled ‘How to Mosaic your Garden’, where participants make a reverse method tabletop, learn two ways of pebble mosaics, and mosaic onto mesh – and if they have time left over, they can do pots or slates as well.

DAY 9 & 10 The second mosaic weekend workshop, with a much smaller group – so even Nina, my mother-in-law, joined in.

And then Jan left (jan kilpatrick, the tutor, who is from www.wildtiles.co.uk)… x number of bottles of wine later, and y slices of cake!

The next OUTDOOR MOSAIC class is set for 2011, starting on the 7th May… the booking sheet is open!!!

  1. Katy, I just found your blog from mosaicartistsorg. I like your idea of having a class working on all sorts of garden mosaics together- I’ll bet that would go over well in my neighborhood, too! I really enjoy reading art blogs from around the world.

I am working very hard at being a professional artist and I am now moving off in the direction of creating art two or three ways; the painted/drawn plans are art in themselves, the mosaics are art, and I can make art photos using the finished mosaics. I am thinking of any way I can to have a number of income streams so that I can keep on being creative!

I wish you well in your mosaic career!

  2. This looks like so much fun and the mosaics are so beautiful! I have my own cherished Katy original here in my studio that always cheers me up!
